Diktator is a local voice-typing app for macOS. It helps people with limited finger mobility or those who find sustained keyboard typing difficult: dictation can start and stop with one easy-to-reach key.
Right Command or Right Option can start and stop dictation. Both keys are near the lower corners of the keyboard and work with a single press.
This can make text entry faster and more comfortable, especially in languages where built-in dictation does not meet the user's needs.
On macOS, Diktator uses Accessibility permission only to place locally recognized text in the currently active app.
It does not use this permission to read documents, inspect other apps' interfaces, control windows, monitor activity, or collect what the user types.
Diktator does not request or use the macOS Input Monitoring permission.
Microphone access is used only while recording speech for recognition. The user controls when recording starts and stops.
Speech recognition runs locally on the Mac with a locally installed model. Audio and recognized text are not sent to a cloud transcription service.
