Installation

Install Diktator 2.2.1 on your Mac

Download signed Build 77, move the app to Applications, then choose your languages, model, text-insertion method and translation language. Requires an Apple silicon Mac with macOS 26 or later.

Open the DMG

Download the disk image and open it. Diktator-2.2.1-77.dmg

Move the app

Drag Diktator to Applications. Do not run it directly from the disk image.

Launch Diktator

Open Diktator from Applications. This build is Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.

Choose your dictation languages

All 100 languages are available in each of the three preferred-language menus. These preferences guide processing without imposing a hard limit: short passages in another language can be recognized independently.

Choose and download a model

Confirm the local speech-model download. The model stays on your Mac; the trial and Pro versions let you try several models.

Allow microphone access

The microphone is needed for dictation and is used only during a recording you start.

Choose how to insert text

Accessibility access is the recommended but optional way to insert text directly. The Diktator Dictation input source offers an alternative that does not use the clipboard. Without either, you can still copy or drag the result.

Set your shortcuts

By default, the right ⌘ key starts regular dictation and the right ⌥ key starts translation. You can change both shortcuts.

Choose a translation language and method

Select a target language from the full catalog, then choose Diktator’s local model or Apple Translation. To use Apple Translation locally, download the required language resources and enable On-Device Mode in macOS first.

After installation

Regular dictation and translation work independently. Speech recognition and translation with Diktator’s local model stay on your Mac. If automatic insertion is unavailable in an app, use the visible result and copy or drag it.
